Forcing Russia Into Peace Is ‘Fatal Mistake’: Putin Ally
Vladimir Putin’s spokesman has said that a plan by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to force Russia into making peace was a “fatal mistake.”
The comments by Dmitry Peskov follow Zelensky’s address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, in which he said that Putin had “broken so many international norms and rules that he won’t stop on his own.”
“Russia can only be forced into peace,” the Ukrainian leader said. “This war can’t be calmed by talks… action is needed.”
But when asked to respond to the comments, Peskov said on Wednesday: “from my point of view, this position is a fatal mistake, a systemic mistake.
“This is the biggest misconception, which of course will inevitably have consequences for the Kyiv regime.”
Peskov added that it would be “impossible” to force Russia into peace.
